STARTING A NEW LIFE

I moved to Green Bay to get an opportunity to start a new life, at a new job, in a new apartment and to finally move on after my divorce was final.  Now after only about a year I’ve found myself in Green Bay filing bankruptcy – so much for my great new life.  The company I had been working for hit a slow period along with the rest of the economy, and began to lay people off.  As the latest edition, the new kid on the block so to speak, I was the first to be let go.  It’s not as if I haven’t been out looking for other jobs, but with things as they stand now, nobody is doing any hiring.  I was in debt before I moved here, I had some pretty high credit card balances and now the lay off has made it virtually impossible for me to even pay my rent, let alone put any money toward my credit card debt or my student loans.  To top it all off, I just got served with court papers informing me that my ex wife is suing me – something about me moving away with property that belonged to both of us and her wanting reparations.  The only potential solution I could see was the bankruptcy; maybe after all my debt gets discharged I’ll be able to start fresh.
